Akanishi Jin withdraws from KAT-TUN!

It was announced at the Tokyo Dome concert on Friday night that KAT-TUN’s Akanishi Jin will be “officially graduating” from the group. Johnny’s Entertainment president Johnny Kitagawa spoke to the press that day and stated that the final decision will be made after Akanishi’s US tour this fall. However, it seems like the decision has all been finalized at this point.

Akanishi has been in the USA since May working on his solo career. He has performed several shows in LA this past June and has a 7-city tour scheduled for September and October. President Kitagawa also stated that Akanishi is already planning future concerts for 2011. Meanwhile, KAT-TUN has been continuing on as a 5-member group similarly as they did when Akanishi left temporarily to study abroad in the USA in 2006.

Kitagawa explained that the main focus is that Akanishi becomes successful in the US. He added on that it would be too soft on Akanishi to let him return to KAT-TUN if he wasn’t successful in this venture. It would be unforgivable to KAT-TUN fans to have Akanishi return the same way he did after studying abroad. kattun_exteen

Kitagawa once again reassured fans that KAT-TUN will not disband. Even though the groups name is based on the first initials of each member’s family name, it is said that Akanishi’s “A” will be replaced by extending Kazuya Kamenashi’s “K” to “KA”. Kitagawa said that there are no plans replace Akanishi with a new member and that there is no need to have six people in the group. He stated that the remaining five members are currently doing fine without Akanishi.

Well, we all saw this one coming. It makes me a little sad to see it actually happen though since I used to be a big KAT-TUN fan back in their early days. Can Jin make put his foot in the door and take a bigger leap in the USA than the Wonder Girls? Good luck with that! Just for old time sake, here’s the video to their debut single “REAL FACE.”

Can’t say I’m shocked that this happened, but it’s still sad regardless. I’ll support him in the US and I wish Jin and KAT-TUN all the luck. :)

I am upset about this because I personally think that Jin has the best voice in KAT-TUN and there is a definite difference for the not so good between when Jin was in LA and they were without Jin and when they were with Jin.
But I hope he makes it in America. He needs to improve his English but I think he can do it.
I kinda feel like this isn’t surprising and I think Jin himself wanted to do this. Listening to A Page kinda makes me realize that maybe he’s getting too old for KAT-TUN and wants to do something else. He’s seemed kinda unhappy in the group, so I hope he moves on to something he likes better.

I’m not sure if I’ll listen to KAT-TUN anymore though.

I always kind of thought Jin had a bit of diva in him ;)

On a serious note, I’m sure KAT-TUN will be fine without him. They’re a fun bunch of talented guys (at least from what I remember. My KAT-TUN phase was about three or four years ago…) and they seem to have been managing thus far. I tend to be a bit skeptical about Jin in the US, but we’ll see. Life is full of surprises and maybe he’s got that ‘something’ that all the Asian singers before him who tried to break into the US scene didn’t have. ^_^

The best of luck to both…

Yeah, this is not a rumor. The recent KAT-TUN performance video without him was really different. They used to be a bit darker and cooler, but since they weren’t selling, it seems like Johnny’s has reshaped them into Arashi #2… They styled their clothes, their hair, and most importantly their song in a way that looks/sounds like Arashi!

I myslef am quite upset that Jin left KAT TUN. . .
but i guess that was he WANTS and i also think Johnny-san was right to not let him return to KAT TUN if he was unsucessful in america.
I agree that KaT TUN now is more like Arashi..they have more of a . . .Arashi “Aura”. hair is styled to match their clothes. . i think i agree with beru that they are somewhat more like Arashi now !

wow!~that’s unreal, but then again it gives jin a chance 2 visit new places/ and new faces 2. If it’s what jin wants, then let him be. No one can make him say otherwise, but his friends, and if his friends r okay with it, then just let them be.
