NBC Comedy “Outsourced”

outsourced

This new NBC series based on a movie is coming this fall and I can’t wait to watch it! From the previews it looks like I will get a belly load of laughter from it. It is about a guy who finds out from his company that he is being outsourced to India. This series doesn’t come without controversy. Some people are saying it is promoting stereotypes  while others say it is making light of a job lost to India.

We all know how it is when we call our bank, phone, or computer companies and someone from India answers the phone. Their name is most likely something like Surinder, Neetu, or Deepak, but they will answer the phone with John, Steve, or Mary.

They can even mask their accents as shown in the Outsourced preview at the end of this post. But almost always their Indian accent sneaks out and betrays them. It wouldn’t be so annoying to speak with them if they knew what they were doing. Just saying that makes me think someone is going to yell at me, “THAT’S RACIST”! A phrase I know all to well from angry asian man, Phil Yu. I think for the most part it is a language barrier from some of the representatives.

I will admit every once in a while I do get a rep from India that can help me out and I really appreciate it. So thank you India for that. As a matter of fact, thank you for your delicious food, beautiful clothes, for your awesome Bhangra,  for Sharukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, and Kunal Khemu.

Once again, more Asian representation will be beaming into households across America. Be on the look out for Outsourced coming this fall Thursday nights on NBC. Check out the preview here!
