To celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May this year, Kate Agathon, the Council on Asian American Studies, the Tippecanoe Arts Federation, and the Asian American Network of Indiana (AANI) will be sponsoring a fundraising event from April 2- May 9, 2010 at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation located at 638 North Street, Lafayette, IN 47901 by displaying and auctioning off various pieces of art work from across the nation. Anyone of Asian and non-Asian descent, can send in a submission by filling up an 8.5 x 11 space with creative art, writing, photography, etc. along with a donation of $5 or more that expresses Asian Pacific American identity or experience.
Submissions may be sent to: Kate Agathon * 1809 Bengal Place * LaFayette, IN 47909 and the deadline is February 28,2010. Some notable contributors from the Asian American community include Congressman Mike Honda, performance poet and community activist Bao Phi, illustrator/graphic designer and owner of Epic Proportions Art & Design, Jerry Ma, actor Parry Shen of the movie Better Luck Tomorrow, director Michael Kang of the movie West 32nd, and hip hop group Far East Movement.
