First Zettai Kareshi and now Kami no Shizuku! Korea had plans on making the Japanese manga, Kami no Shizuku (The Drops of God), into a live-action Korean drama. The story revolves around Kanzaki Shizuku, the son of the famous wine critic, Kanzaki Yutaka. When his father passes away, Kanzaki Yutaka leaves a wine collection that's worth a fortune. In order to inherit the wine, Kanzaki Shizuku must solve a series of 6 puzzles in which he must guess the correct wine. His opponent is Tomine Issei, a wine critic who his father adopted before his death.
Authors Tadashi Agi and Shū Okimoto had Korean actor Bae Yong Joon (star of the hit drama Winter Sonata) in mind to star in this drama. Bae Yong Joon had been interested in pursuing another project, Kami no Shizuku being the most probable one. Key East, Bae Yong Joon's production company, has already signed with Kodansha for the rights to publish the Korean live-action drama in 2008.
Unfortunately, the project must be put on hold for the time being. to make this drama, there would be many different wine companies involved and because of Korea's regulations of product placement, this project may take a bit longer than expected.
The drama has already finished in Japan and was first debuted in January of 2009. The drama starred KAT-TUN member, Kamenashi Kazuya as Kanzaki Shizuku. Kamenashi Kazuya went on to win Best Actor in the 12th Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix.
