I am a new fan of the Starz Crash series. I didn’t miss one episode of season one. I tuned in, because it looked like a fresh, raw drama that was based off the 2005 movie Crash. I also watched it, because I was thrilled to be able to see the actor Brian Tee from the movies: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee, and Deadland. I remember at the end of season 2, Starz showed the previews for the second season. Brian Tee and actor Kelvin Han Yee would play main characters in the series as they had with the first season. I have subscribed through my mobile carrier monthly to be able to view the series Crash since I do not have it on TV. But I received word from Kelvin that the entire Asian story line from Crash has been cut out. In protest I will no longer subscribe to Starz until the Asian storyline returns.
San Kyu Kim wrote some of the Asian storyline for this series. Megan Lee, the little girl that Brian saved on one episode, told Kelvin that, “she was devastated to learn we would not return.” Kelvin also told me that, “It’s a shame to lose one of the few Asian regular story lines on TV. It’s not only an employment issue, it’s about representation, it’s about stories where diverse people are in the center of the story, not just walk-ons. I believe America wants to see a world that is diverse and reflects our own country.”
