Koo Hye-sun, the unstoppable Geum Jan-di from the hit "Boys Over Flowers", can now add one more thing to her ever-growing list of talents and accomplishments: composer. [hidepost]
The actress, writer, artist and movie director just released her first album "Breathe" which features the original soundtrack to her directorial debut. All the songs were composed by Koo.
"I wanted to mix up the music from this album, my paintings and my novel like bimbimbap and come up with a tasty movie," she said at a press conference at Olympic Park. "I never learned to compose or draw professionally, but I always enjoyed making things by myself ever since I was young, and I think that hobby led me to do so many things now."
The young actress worked with famed Japanese pianist, Isao Sasaki, while composing the album. Sasaki said working with Koo was like working with his daughter and they spent a "wonderful, creative time together."
Out of the eight tracks, seven are piano instrumentals while one, "Around the Corner," was sung by Gummy. Koo said that she initially meant to record it herself, but knew that when she heard Gummy sing that a professional was meant to do it.
Even with her impressive resume at the tender age of 24, Koo says there is one more thing she would like to add in the future- good mother. Though, she might want to wait a few years before fulfilling that one; balancing all her careers and a baby could be difficult.
The album is available to buy now and the movie, which Koo describes as a "music mystery" will hit screens later this year.
