This is the third time AKFG has crossed the East Sea to play in Korea. They played at the Pentaport Rock Festival in Incheon two years ago in 2007 along with fellow Japanese rockers L’Arc~en~ciel, and held a concert in Seoul at the end of 2007 in December.
The festival appearance comes just one weekend after the band’s own music festival held every summer in Japan. This year’s festival had Ben Folds, Straightener, The Young Punx!, the Hiatus and other bands from the U.S., Japan and Britain.
They also recently released their Nano-Mugen Compilation 2009 on July 1 and their new live DVD, “Eizo Sakuhin Shu Vol.5” on April 15 of this year. Asian Kung Fu Generation is best known for their song “Reraito” or “Rewrite” which was the fourth opening song for the anime “Fullmetal Alchemist.”
