New York experiences its first Asian American Comic Con (AACC)! This unique convention took place at the Museum of Chinese in America on July 11th. AACC brought artist, writers, editors and fans together. The AACC centered around the Asians who contributed to the overall process of comic making. Keith Chow one of the editors of SECRET IDENTITIES: THE ASIAN AMERICAN SUPERHERO ANTHOLOGY was on hand to greet everyone walking down “Artists Alley” at the event.  Whether it’s DC Comics or Marvel Comics or even just a self-published comic, the AACC is raising awareness about these contributions. Various artists such as Daniel Ketchum, Jeff Yang, Misako Rocks!, and more were present. Bernard Chang and Sean Chen of DC Comics fame had attended as well.

I’ve been to several Anime conventions in my day and for a first con I must say it was very different. It wasnt as elaborate as I thought it would be but then it was a first for this event.  It was very enlightening to talk to many of the artist one on one. Each person was very inviting and  did pretty well for its first launch.
