Gackt Releases Four New Singles for his 10 Year Anniversary Countdown!

gackt 1 That’s right! Gackt, one of Japan’s most well-known music artists is celebrating his first decade as a solo artist! As a gift to all of his fans, Gackt has released four new singles over a course of four weeks! [hidepost] Gackt rose to fame in 1995 when he became Malice Mizer’s main vocalist, pianist, and lyricist. After leaving the band, Gackt had released his own solo single “EP Mizerable.” Since his first single, Gackt has released over seven albums and almost forty singles in the past decade. Gackt has also co-wrote and starred in the movie Moon Child along with Hyde Takarai of L’Arc en Ciel and Wang Lee Hom. Gackt’s reign of fame has also turned him into a model, an extraordinary singer, and actor, and even a Vocaloid and a Final Fantasy character. This is only scratching the surface of all the amazing work Gackt has done over the past decade. I’m sure we all look forward to hearing more from this brilliant performer.

Each of the new singles has it’s own flavor but the track that stands out most to me is “Lost Angels” and “In Flames” from the “Flower” single. Both singles have a slow rock melody that compliments Gackt’s voice. Both songs bring me back to his older songs such as “Todokanai Ai to Shitteita no ni Osaekirezu ni Aishitsuzuketa… (届カナイ愛ト知ッテイタノニ抑エキレズニ愛シ続ケタ･･･)” and “Lu:na.” Gackt’s first single for his 10 Year Anniversary Countdown, “Koakuma Heaven” has posed as a threat to Gackt’s early single “Vanilla.” When “Vanilla” was released, the song’s lyrics were considered risqué but now “Koakuma Heaven” has seemed to move up to being Gackt’s most perverted song. Gackt’s new singles don’t stray away too far away from his original style, which brings new and old Gackt fans together.

Speaking of new singles, Gackt will be releasing a new single August 5, 2009 titled “The Next Decade!” He just released four great singles. Be prepared for a new amazing single soon!
